ProtectHer_850HIGHGolden Alexander is trapped in a nightmare.

Trying to flee her hallucination of a demon, she runs heart first into the brooding alpha male she’s been dreaming about for years, and then her nightmare really begins.

Kris Pietka is done with women…he’s broken. But when he meets Golden, an overwhelming need to protect her tests everything he thought he knew about himself, and the paranormal.

A bond forged centuries ago thrusts them together as they search for a way to break an ancient Druid curse prophesying their demise. Racing against the clock, they travel from Vermont, to the Carpathian Mountains in Poland, and the Scottish Highlands in search of answers and a way to break the curse

But something evil watches—it covets, and time is running out.

Will fate allow love to prevail against unbeatable odds, or will Golden wake to find it was all a delusion?

Protect Her is the first novel in The Druid’s Curse series.

DRUIDS…Ancient Bad Boys of Summer

I am guest blogging on Paranormal Romantics blog today.

This month’s theme is Bad Boys of Summer and what better way to start this off than talk about Druids.

Here is a teaser of my post. Click on the banner above to read the full article.

Were Druids the original Hippies?

The Druids, in search of enlightenment, would partake of magic mushrooms. The fly Agaric is one such mushroom. It has been said the Druid would fast for 3 days prior to ingestion. His urine (which would be mostly water and the hallucinogenic components of the mushroom) would then be drunk by others.

The body absorbs the fly agaric’s hallucinogens first, and then expels the toxins from the stomach. The hallucinogenic chemicals then exert their influence on the body and are expelled unaltered in the urine.

As terrible as this sounds, I found I had to put this in my novel, Protect Her, which features an evil Druid, Lailoken.

Be sure to head on over to Paranormal Romantics p

and find out all about the Druids:

How they may have been the original Hippies,

What kinds of sacrifices they specialized in performing,

What holidays they observed,

Sacred trees,

Fortune telling,

…And where they are now.

The next Best Thing Blog

1: What is the working title of your book(s)?

Protect Her is the first novel in The Cursed Trilogy.

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

I first dreamed of Lailoken (Protect Her’s villain) when I was 18, he has been annoyingly persistent in pushing me to write his story ever since.

3: What genre does your book come under?

Paranormal Romance

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Amanda Seyfried and model Jared Koronkiewicz.

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

True love conquers the test of time.  Such is the story of two lovers bound by fate, torn apart by evil and reunited by perseverance.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

I am currently seeking representation with a traditional publishing house. I want to hold the book in my hands.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Seven months.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I wanted to write a sweet, sexy romantic story with paranormal elements. A kind of Twilight grows up.

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Lailoken, the Druid High Priest pushed, and my interest in Scottish and Polish mythology pulled me along.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Lailoken, the Druid High Priest, unleashes something dark and sinister in the 13th century. It waits. It watches, and seven hundred and twenty years later, it finds what it wants.

Golden Alexander, twenty years old and sheltered by her loved ones, jumps at the chance to move across the country to rural Vermont. She finds her new start isn’t what she expected as unexplained events and undeniable cravings for a stranger she’s dreamed of for years, plague her. Kris Pietka, a twenty-seven-year-old bachelor, is happy with his life the way it is. He hasn’t the time or the need for the complications of a relationship, especially with the petite blonde that suddenly consumes his world.

With their lives thrown together by supernatural circumstances, and a bond forged centuries ago, desire burns hot. Kris tries to deny his feelings for Golden as the need to protect her grows. Throughout history a fiery death befalls bound lovers. This knowledge does nothing to dampen the flames burning within them as a battle for love rages. They travel from Vermont, to the Carpathian Mountains in Poland, and the Highlands of Scotland in search for answers, hoping to release their ancient binding. A battle for love rages within them, but the Other watches, it covets, and time is running out. Death is coming for them.
